What's Wrong with Samoan Buses?

This week, the country of Samoa made a change no country has made in over 40 years.  They decided to switch from driving on the right side of the road, to the left

Samoa

And as you can see from the photo, the buses in Samoa have the door on the right side. You can imagine the challenges this may pose to passengers while entering and exiting, especially in busy traffic.

In fact, the government is mandating that all buses be changed in order to apply with the new law. This likely isn't going over very well with the owners of the buses.

Apparently, the roads in Samoa have been very safe this week.  This maybe doesn't surprise me – people are likely to be more careful, as their driving habits change.

If you are travelling to Samoa anytime soon, be careful when driving. Or when travelling on the buses.  I imagine there will be some confusion on the Samoan roads for some time in the future.
