The Karen Blixen Museum in Nairobi is worth a visit
If you ever visit Nairobi I would suggest you to take a taxi to the Karen Blixen Museum which is located in the house where she once lived. Blixen was Danish and travelled to Kenya in 1914 to establish a coffee plantation together with her fiancé Bror von Blixen-Finecke.
She stayed here until 1931. When her beloved Finch Hatton (Bror had earlier been unfaithful to her and they divorced), an English big game hunter, died tragically in an airplane crash she decided to head back to Denmark.
Karen Blixen is most famous for her book called "Out of Africa" which later w
as filmed with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford in the key roles. The first sentence in the book is "I had a farm in Africa at the foot of Ngong hills". Her house is nice and beautiful and the view over the hills is lovely.
You can decide whether you would like to have a guide showing you around in the house or if you prefer going by yourself. I chose the latter. Click here to read more about Karen Blixen and here to get more information about the museum.
Enjoy your visit!
