Montreux is a beutiful city that lies on the north east shore of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The city is mostly known for its world-famous month-long Jazz festival but is well worth a visit even if you´re not into that kind of music.

For example you can visit Chateau de Chillion, a historic castle on a small island in Lake Geneva, only a few meters from shore. Hauts de Montreux, less than 20 minutes from the city center, is a hiker´s dream. On a good day you can see to Geneva in the west and Bern in the east.

Montreux is located in the French speaking part of Switzerland and therefore you can go there and study French, which is quite popular.
