This may sound far fetched or even crazy, but a Barcelona company called The Galactic Suite Space Resort has plans to open the first hotel in space in 2012, as reported by Reuters. 

Guests would travel around the world every 80 minutes, getting to experience 15 sunrises a day. 

The cost?  3 million euro, for a 3 night stay. (I think that I may wait until the price comes down)  The price apparently includes an 8-week training session on a tropi.jpgcal island. The company reports that over 200 people have already expressed interest, and at least 43 people have reserved. 

The Galactic Suite Space Resort is not the first company to suggest space travel in their plans. Virgin Galactic has similar plans. It may be safe to say we are witnessing a race to see who can turn space into a travel destination first. 

What do you think about this concept?  For me, there are still so many places on this planet that I would like to visit.  The thought of looking at them from space doesn't so much appeal to me.
