Posing with the Bobbies
I was quite happy with posing with one of the royal guards in London – as they seemed like real toy soldiers… just larger. I know that these poor guys sometime feel irritated by the tourists taking pi.jpgctures, but unfortunately they are an “attraction”.
We found a Bobby guarding a building a kilometer (or so) away from Buckingham and decided – he is it. We unceremoniously flanked the guard with our cheesiest smiles while my friend (that lives in London) took our photo.
PS. We landed from South Africa via Doha at Heathrow 20 hours after dusting African soil off our feet. We put down our luggage and took a train to meet my friend for our day of walking in London. Imagine just how tired we were. We were purely operating on adrenaline – as everything was new and exciting.

FYI – ‘Bobbie’ is a colloquial term referring to the British police who are named after Robert Peel, the founder of the London police force. Your photo refers to a Welsh Guard.
Jip, that is just how we call them in SA…
