NYC’s Fashion Week on a Budget

Lurk around Lincoln Center this week and you’ll spot handfuls of stick-thin and sky-high Amazonian models decked out in four-inch heels, fine leather goods and the latest fall fashions. (Warning: side effects include jealousy, an urge to splurge, and sudden loss of appetite.) In honor of New York Fashion Week, I’ve decided to do my own little roundup of this season’s style essentials (albeit on a much more modest price scale). Mmmm, doesn’t that cool crisp air just make you want to shop?

Double-Sided Sheepskin Trench Coat

Zara

$549

Though I dream of Burberry’s Prorsum wool and shearling jacket, this less expensive version from Zara is just as chic and durable.

Daily Constitutional Cape

Anthropologie

$298

Cozy flannel with rich gold hardware, and cape-like sleeves that feel easy and elegant.

Open Toe Lace Up Booties

Shopbop.com

$215

This will be my next purchase. Edgy and distressed with a touch of sexy!

Khaki Nail Polish

Chanel

$25

In vert, burn and rose, these earthy hues are a welcome change from the bright berries we donned all summer.

Aimee Fisherman-Knit Sweater

Alexa Chung for Madewell

$138

Style icon, Alexa Chung, managed to make grandma’s knit sweater fresh and flattering, but maintained that old-school flare.
