It’s a blooming affair in Namaqualand
If you want to see 4000 plant species on one spot, Namaqualand is the place to go. From daisies to Jakkalsbessies (Jackal Berries) to the most unusual flowers that form a tapestry of colour as far as the eye can see.
This area is really an amazing natural sight as it is actually situated in an arid desert type of environment (part of it falls in Namibia) – and just for a short time after the spring rains it is covered in flowers.
When?
The best time to go see the flowers would be from August to September – depending on the rainfall and weather of course
Where?
Namaqualand is in the Northern Cape (province in South Africa) and the flowers stretch into Namibia.
