Ever since childhood I have always treasured any postcards I received from friends, because of the amazing photos on them. Postcards always had a wonderful way of making me feel a bit closer, to the place my friend was visiting at that time.   

Whenever I am going on a trip abroad, I pack a few interesting postcards from my own city to show other people. Anytime I am overseas, people I encounter often have tons of questions about the location I am from in the States. Postcards make it extremely easy for me to illustate the details to anyone I meet during my travels.

Before your next international trip, consider picking up a few postcards from your own city or town. If you meet someone special during your journey, write down your details on the back of a postcard and give it to the person. It is a nice memento that will encourage the two of you to stay in touch in the future.
