Happy Birthday Disneyland!

This week, Disneyland in Anaheim California, will celebrate its 54th birthday. In Disneyland tradition, all the staff team members will wear a commemorative pi.jpgn to celebrate the occasion.

Disneyland is one of the United State's most popular tourist attractions, especially with families and children. (Or anyone who likes going on amusement park rides!) Last year, the park saw more than 14.8 million visitors come through the gates, an average of almost 40,000 people daily.

The park is large, and is organized according to various areas, which include Adventureland, Main Street, Frontierland, Critter Country, and Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland.  Every night the park's closing ceremonies are highlighted by a flag ceremony, and an elaborate fireworks display.

The first year of the park's existence saw more than 1 million visitors. For the past four years, more than 14 million have visited annually.

Most kids in the west of North America have made the trip to Disneyland at least one time. (people from the east often visit Disneyworld in Florida instead)  My one and only trip was back in 1987 – maybe its time I got back there.
