Groundhog predicts long winter
February 2nd was Groundhog Day. This is a slightly odd tradition celebrated around the United States and Canada, with the biggest festivities in a town called Punxsutawney in Pennsylvania where the groundhog is named Phil. Phil is chased out of his hole to predict the weather. If he sees his shadow, folklore says that he will go back into his hole and winter is supposed to continue for another 6 weeks. If he doesn't see his shadow, spring is around the corner.
This year, Phil in Punxsutawney unfortunately did see his shadow. And just to prove that the prediction is indeed right, here in New York it started snowing that same evening.
