Dachau
Nothing will ever prepare you for how you feel when walking through the Nazi’s concentration camp in Dachau. Nothing.
The iron gate at the entrance says "Arbeit Macht Frei", beyond that lies the fast, depressing complex that once housed Jewish prisoners.
The museum in one of the buildings now houses photographs and texts that tell the story of Hitler and the SS, the suffering and death of people…
I walked into the sleepi.jpgng quarters of the prisoners, their beds was just like a hive of bunk beds with no room in between. It was horrible.
Outside in the open courtyard people didn’t really talk, all you heard was their footsteps on the pebbled yard. It was as if people treated this as a sacred graveyard – that is really how it felt.
Entrance to the museum is free, but donations are welcomed. There is a little shop in the camp and one outside.
