Celebrating 2010 in New York

New York is said to be one of the best cities in the world to celebrate New Years Eve. Many parties and events are organized and people arrive from the whole world. No wonder it's hard to decide on what to do. One has to take into account the price tag – many clubs charge ridiculous amounts – and the cold – no outdoor activity for me.
In the end I went to the big warehouse party in Brooklyn where lots of my friends were going. It was at a similar party I was teaching yoga in September and also at the New Years Eve party there were lots of activities. This is something that I really appreciate, that it's not all about drinking and dancing. This party was more like a playground for grownups, full of art, installations and lots of fun.
Some examples: several relaxation areas, one with blowup kidpools full of pi.jpgllows, a tent with divans and hookas (waterpi.jpgpes) to smoke and a sea of rose petals to "shower" in. There were also hula-hoops, giant balls, people walking on stilts and the in New York so popular "photo booth" were people eternalize the memories of the evening.
