Big Ben turns 150
31 May 2009 – Big Ben has now ticked for 150 years (only interrupted for short periods of maintenance) and has been one of the biggest tourist attractions in London since its first tick.
- the clock tower is 96m high
- the minute hands are over 4m long
- and the clock started ticking on 31 May 1859
