Air-born baby
On a recent flight from the UK to Crete a pregnant woman found her self in a serious situation. She and her husband were 30 000 feet high in the air when her water broke. While there were no doctors on board a flight supervisor used her basic medical training to help deliver a very tiny boy somewhere high above Germany.
For almost an hour she performed mouth to mouth resuscitation and heart massage. The plane were diverted and when it landed on Gatwick Airport the boy was taken directly to the hospi.jpgtal and luckily he made it and his parents expect him to grow up to be a healty boy.
The woman was 25 weeks pregnant and had no inkling that her boy would be premature. Most airlines allow expectant mothers to fly up to 28 weeks into their pregnancy. At 28-34 weeks a prior notification and a medical certificate of fitness to fly are required.
